Passing the Exam:

According to the PMP Handbook “The passing score for all PMI credential examinations is determined by sound psychometric analysis. PMI uses subject matter experts from across the globe to help establish a point at which each candidate should pass the examination(s) and the examination point of difficulty. Data that shows how candidates actually performed is cross referenced with the subject matter experts to ensure that the point of difficulty on each examination is healthy.”

PMI has not mentioned the exact passing score in the PMP Handbook. In sound psychometric analysis, the minimum mark of pass percentage varies for each exam, and is based on the exam's difficulty. It also means that if you get lots of easy questions on the exam, your pass percentage may be higher compared to the pass percentage if you get tougher questions correct. So one candidate may pass the exam scoring just 55%, and the other may fail despite scoring 65%.

Achieving 80-90% on practice exams is good but certainly not enough. No one book can hold all the questions from thePMP exam to guarantee a 100% pass rate. Several times in our course it will be mentioned that our tests are not enough for the exam and students must to find other sources to try more tests. There are several free test websites to explore to 'Increase their chance of passing exam' - some of the students chose to pay a testing website to gain access to more simulations. Students must also understand that there are 25 unmarked questions on the exam that might change the mark if you think they are the ones you answered correctly.
