January Networking Event - A Great Success
The January Networking Event was the largest ever held by the Chapter! It doubled the average attendance: over 120 participated, plus the Board of Directors. See photos in the Event Gallery.

Volunteer Positions

Spring Volunteer Orientation Seminar: March 25, 2009
Are you a new volunteer? Have you been thinking about volunteering?

Volunteering with CWCC is not only a way to enrich your membership experience, it also expands your professional network, improves your knowledge base, and helps to sharpen your leadership skills.

This seminar will explain the structure of the chapter and help you make a smooth transition into the role of chapter volunteer. Come out and meet chapter members, Board members, and other volunteers by registering now at Volunteer Orientation Seminar

  • Where: Location will most likely be in downtown Vancouver (close to transit/parking)
  • When: March 25th, 2009; from 6:15 pm to 8:15 pm
  • Snacks and refreshments will be provided

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Manager - Monthly Events: Reporting to the VP of Programs, manage monthly events, including coordinating event facilitation; managing communications with VPs and the event team; and ensuring successful event execution.

Program Team: Reporting to the VP of Programs, assist Event Project Manager to run monthly events.

Manager - Program Content: Reporting to the VP of Programs, manage Program portfolio; for example, Program Portfolio webspace, logging event information, etc.

Newsletter Publisher - Special Communications: Manage ad hoc communications and email/newsletter blast.

Chapter Historian: Reporting to the VP of Administration, the Chapter Historian to put together the chapter history and assemble it for the website.

Director - Career Marketing and Events: The Director, Career Marketing and Events provides planning, administrative, and project execution support for the Career Portfolio including the overall responsibility and accountability to work with the PMI CWCC Workopolis account manager to assist in marketing of the PMI CWCC Job Board.

Reporter/Writer: Writing short newsletter pieces on recent events. Writing pieces for PMI Today. Writing press releases.

Photographer: Taking pictures at events; taking pictures of the board of directors and other volunteers; maintaining gallery area on the website.

Designer: Creates graphics to support content to be used in the Publicity portfolio and other portfolios in the Chapter, and for use in various brochures, newsletters, or the Chapter's website.

Event Promoter: Works with Programs, Education and other Chapter teams and assists them in promoting Chapter activities; Prepares and sends notes and ads about events (e.g.: to local media); Preparation and advertising on other places (Linked In, Facebook, etc…); Provides a written Report of activity for insertion into the Annual Report; Creation of said material.

Public Relations Director: To work with the Programs, Education and other Chapter teams and assist them in the promotion of Chapter activities. This will involve such tasks as: organizing and coordinating the work of Public Relations Team; maintaining a positive and progressive public image of the Chapter

Branding Director: Develop and maintain specific organisations' awareness of the profession, the Project Management Institute and specifically, our Chapter, and raising awareness of their value within the business community. Tasks include creating the brand, and modeling the brand imprint in the community.

Outreach Director: Coordinating the work of account managers, and handling the most important accounts; contacting larger entities (BCH, Telus, ICBC, Jim Pattison, Westcoast Energy, Ledcor, HSBC, Terasen Gas, etc); working on initiating long term relationships with corporations.
