NEW PROJECT MANAGEMENT ADVISORY COUNCIL – problem solving program!

In September, 2010, the Senior Project Management Issues Forum will be completely revamped and opened up to the entire CWCC membership as the Project Management Advisory Council.

Any member with an immediate project issue or challenge, will be invited to present to a panel of senior PM’s and receive immediate professional and practical advice on how they could be resolved. A new webpage with all the program details is available here. If you have any questions or interest in this new panel, email Mentorship Panel.

January Pilot: Project Manager Skills Development Program is now COMPLETED.

During the PM Skills Development workshop, one team member facilitated the discussion on a specific project management topic or area of interest to enable experience and learnings to be shared. This resulted in a deeper, collective understanding of the subject matter being discussed and the identification of tools and techniques that can be employed within each participant’s project management endeavours. The workshops covered the following topics: Project Charters, WBS, Stakeholder Engagement, Risk Management and team building/virtual teams. Participant feedback has been gathered and the program will be adjust for the next intake.

Take a look at the PM Skills Development Program overview for further detail. If you are interested in getting on the wait-list for the next intake, or have further questions, please contact mentorship.skills@pmi.bc.ca.

Get involved in our Mentorship Programs.

Mentors form the backbone of the PMI Mentorship Program. With several mentorship programs to choose from, we need a whole lot of mentors to support the long list of protégés that are always enrolled or waitlisted for these intakes.

Eligibility

  • You must be a chapter member to apply for either mentorship program.

  • All mentors must additionally have achieved their PMP designation.

  • You must have at least 7 years of Lead PM experience to participate in the Senior PM Issues Forum.

PMPs with 3-5 years of experience can provide mentoring to protégés.

If you are a PM with 3-5 years of solid project management, you could be a mentor. This has been very rewarding for all of our alumni - read through their stories if you're not convinced.

PMPs with 7 years of experience as a Lead PM can mentor other PMPs.

If you are a senior PMP with at least 7 years as a lead PM, have worked in 2 or more industries, and are very interested to share and learn from others with this experience, then this program could be for you. Take a look at the format that is being planned for this new pilot program (below).

Want to be a protégé? Mark your calendars for September 2010

If you are a recent PMP or been practicing for several years, you can always learn more from another PM.
